A Mercedes that knows it is peerless.

With its new CLA Coupé, Mercedes-Benz sets new benchmarks for expressive, avantgarde design. This Coupé does not merely wish to please the beholder - but rather, seduce the beholder with every line.

The new CLA Coupé displays the classic Coupé proportions: a high, tight beltline, flat window surfaces and a long bonnet.

The unusually striking lines together with the surfaces curved both inwards and outwards give the new CLA Coupé its avantgarde, sporty character. Typical for a coupé are its windows: frameless or framed in chrome or high-sheen black (depending on equipment), they bestow upon the vehicle a special air of elegance and class. The roofline sweeps gently into the rear end, where the bumper with integral tailpipes and the striking spoiler lip provide an irresistible finale. Literally a highlight: the characteristic shape of the rear lights, in full LED if desired.

In keeping with its innovative design, the new CLA Coupé is also available in a designo magno polar silver matt finish or in other innovative paint finishes. In addition the many design and equipment lines and packages available offer countless options for individualising and enhancing the new CLA Coupé.

The sporty character of the exterior is carried over into the vehicle interior through the striking horizontal line. Thus, for example, the dynamic side line reappears in the door panelling.

The focal point of the cockpit is the free-standing 20.3 centimetre media display (available as an option with various design and equipment lines) with an innovative smartphone look. Many of the controls and edgings are in silver chrome with a metallic surface and delight with their high-class touch and feel. The extensive use of aluminium, wood or carbon fibre trim underlines the new CLA's commitment to premium quality.

The integral-look sports seats are also very special features – and ambient lighting, with a choice of twelve colours, is optionally available to provide a true highlight.

Take your seat – a very special seat: integral-look sports seats as standard in both the front and rear gives perfect support to all occupants. The air vents will make you think of a jet engine. The instrument cluster in twin-tube design with luminous red touches gives the interior a striking look and feel. The 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel also catches the eye.

Adaptive brake lights, flashing

The flashing brake lights can help in an emergency situation to significantly shorten the reaction time of road users following behind. The LED adaptive brake lights thus make an important contribution to preventing rear-end collisions.

If the driver brakes or makes an emergency stop from a speed greater than 50 km/h, the brake lights flash in order to warn following traffic. If the vehicle comes to a stop from a speed greater than 70 km/h, the hazard warning lamps are switched on automatically.

This system can increase driving safety in particular on long trips and when driving at night. Based on the driver's steering behaviour, ATTENTION ASSIST can recognise signs of fatigue and severe inattentiveness and issue visual and audible warnings that there is a risk of impending microsleep.

If the system detects certain steering patterns that frequently accompany drowsiness, it warns the driver visually by displaying the "coffee cup" symbol in the instrument cluster at the same time as emitting audible signals. When switched on, it is active at speeds between 80 and 180 km/h.

Active Brake Assist

The system gives the driver a visual warning if the distance to the vehicle in front is too small. If the danger of a collision is detected an acoustic warning signal is emitted; thereafter, the driver's braking action can be supported, but if the driver fails to react, the vehicle speed can be autonomously reduced.

The Active Brake Assist system helps to minimise the danger of a rear-end collision and to mitigate the consequences of an accident. A warning lamp lights up in the instrument cluster if the distance to the vehicle ahead falls below a preset value for several seconds within the speed range 30 to 250 km/h. If the gap reduced further, an intermittent warning sound can also be heard.

A potential collision with a moving object can be identified within the speed range 7 to 250 km/h – and with a stationary obstacle from 7 to around 70 km/h. If the driver initiates emergency braking, the system provides braking support adequate to the situation. If required, it boosts braking pressure to help prevent a collision where possible. If the driver does not act, the braking is initiated automatically. Autonomous braking in response to moving objects is available up to 105 km/h – in combination with the Distance Pilot DISTRONIC, up to 200 km/h.
